temple of the forest

i am a priest

in the temple

of the forest.

i go there now

seeking solitude

in the frosty morn.

the path of leaves

soon gives way

to a carpet

of golden needles;

i have reached

the inner sanctum.

here, great pillars

reach into the sky

opening a portal

between heaven

and earth

earth

o mother earth

giver of all life

you wear your

jewel-encrusted

flowing blue robe

like a great queen

your shimmering

emerald auroras

crown your brow

with ghostly tiaras

you are a tiny isle

of life in a vast

ocean of death

you are a bright

sky-blue tv screen

in a pitch-black

living room

they say that those

who’ve seen your

sphere of life

against the utter

emptiness

of space are

forever changed

shatner cried

fall in (archives)

come along

don’t make a fuss

just hop aboard

the magic bus

and head out to

the woods with us–

we’re going to have

some fun;

there’s herbs

and mushrooms

everywhere

and wildflowers

for your hair–

the eager elves

and fairies there

already have

begun

Skittles

I stopped out at Stephanie’s farm today to check on Skittles. Yea, she has a new name; we could hardly call her Blue Eyes anymore– they’ve turned dark brown in the last few months. Skittles, apparently, has something to do with the fact that the dogs follow her around; I didn’t inquire further.

She lost her spots a while ago, and is growing fast. I took some video of her bounding around the place, but I haven’t edited it yet. She sure seems happy, though, and I’m glad she’s accepted there as one of the gang.

I think she may be a little too dependent on Stephanie, the way she follows her around. I read a story once about a gal who also took in an orphaned fawn, and it became so attached to her that it would jump in the shower with her. Stephanie assured me her situation wasn’t that dire… yet.

It was a nice visit, but when feeding time came, it was time to get out of the way!
