One, Two, Three … Out

One AM, and with pen in hand

I stare thousands of miles

Beyond the flickering

Flames on the logs

As the old fan

Drones on

And on

Two AM, the flames crackle

And resolve stirs, but my

Stream of thought

Has condensed

To sweat on

My brow

Three AM, I am lost in limbo

Yet I will not go to bed

Perhaps morning

Light will…
